Sir Isaac NEWTON

  General Notes:

BIRTH: He was born on 25 Dec 1642 (pre-Gregorian calendar), which later became known as 4 Jan 1643 when England adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1752.
CHILDHOOD: 3 years after his father's death, at the age of 3, Isaac's mother left him in the care of her mother, Margery Ayscough, in order to marry Rev. Barnabus Smith. Rev. Smith died 7 years later in 1653, and Hannah returned, taking back her then 10 year old son. Isaac later wrote how he greatly resented his mother leaving him when he was young. In 1659, his mother removed him from school and attempted to make a farmer of him, like Isaac's father. Isaac greatly disliked farming, and in 1661 his mother's brother William was instrumental in Isaac attending Trinity College, Cambridge, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1665.

CHILDREN: Had no children
SIBILINGS: Had 1 half brother and 2 half sisters

OCCUPATIONS: Physicist, Mathematician, Astronomer, Natural Philosopher, Alchemist, Theologian, Master of England's Royal Mint. Considered by many to be the "most influential scientist who ever lived".
NOTEWORTHY: Invented Calculus; discovered Gravitational Force; developed the Three Laws of Motion (and how they relate to the Earth and the Heavens); discovered Light was composed of a spectrum of colors; invented the Reflecting Telescope; became the "Father of Modern Science"; moved Britain from the Silver Standard to the Gold Standard.
